It aims to help students develop high-level English skills through locating main ideas, recognizing organizational patterns, summarizing, inferences making, and synthesizing reading materials.

The objective of this course is to build up advanced reading ability by use of the following reading strategies: learning new vocabulary in context, locating main ideas, recognizing major vs. minor details, examining organizational patterns, distinguishing facts and opinions, making inferences, identifying author's purpose and tone, and understanding arguments. Students will become better readers through reading intensively (following specific reading strategies and skills) and reading extensively (reading authentic materials).
