This course provides students a big picture of business translation and multimedia translation. They will be given related materials about specific types of language conversion. Through practice, it will help strengthen the translation skills they have learned. The most used Computer-assisted Translation (CAT) tools will be introduced in this course as well and the students will learn the basics and put them into practice.

1. to broaden general knowledge about business translation (i.e. website translation-localization) and multimedia translation (i.e. machine translation, subtitle translation) 2. to learn how to deal with the conversions between English and Chinese languages when it comes to creative content (i.e. copy adaption, transcreation, translation of cultural references) 3. to acquire basic skills of the CAT tools (Trados, Wordfast)

Relevant materials such as CAT tools (demo versions), videos, articles and business documents for the use in class will be provided by the tutor.
