教育目標

This course offers an introductory study of the nature of language through the perspectives of psycholinguistics, educational psychology and Natural Language Processing (NLP). The course introduces cognitive models of how humans perform language tasks and then explains how these models inform educational psychology practice for language learning and teaching. Importantly, students will also contrast human performance and NLP tools performance for a broad range of common language tasks (e.g. answering questions about a text or summarizing it). Recent NLP performance breakthroughs for complex language tasks will be explored and implications for learning/teaching languages will be discussed.
