教育目標

This course will introduce students to fairy tales which form a major part of literature provided to children, but which are also part of literature aimed at adults. Fairy tales are types of narrative that children (and their parents) will be exposed to, either in visual form (picture books), in illustrated texts, or as films and theatre productions. Moreover, fairy tales have been the basis for literary works (such as poetry, short stories, novels, films, etc.) aimed at readers across different age groups both in the past and the present. This course aims to introduce students to various kinds of fairy tales written for children and for adults and will look at fairy tales from different traditions. The historical development of fairy tales will be discussed, covering the early oral tradition of fairy tales, the censored fairy tales for children, the development of literary fairy tales in the 19th century and the creation of fractured fairy tales in the 20th century. This course aims to introduce students to various aspects of fairy tales. Students will learn to approach fairy tales critically, applying different literary theories to the tales. At the same time students will strengthen their skills in reading, analyzing and discussing these works.
