At the conclusion of the course, students will be able to •Demonstrate understanding of key problems in thematic and stylistic analysis, film adaptation of fiction, literary translation, and social histories relevant to these stories •Express their own ideas about the course films/stories and related topics, in group discussion and journal-writing •Write an academic essay or present a conference poster and short talk, expressing and defending their positions on one or more key questions
