Midterm Exam 20 The purpose of the examinations is to assess your understanding of the methods and concepts presented in the lectures and the textbook. Some exam questions may be T/F or multiple choice: they will cover factual information that you should know. However, most questions will require you to solve problems like those covered in the lectures and homework assignments. I will provide practice exams to help you prepare.

Problem Solving Demonstration 20 In the problem solving demonstration, you will work with a group to present a calculus-related problem solving technique and use it to solve business-related problems. The problem solving demonstration will be done during the last week of class. It can be done either in person or as a video (for extra credit).
Quizzes 20 Don’t fall behind in this course! To make the most of class, prepare by reading the relevant chapters in the textbook and doing the homework problems. The four in-class quizzes will encourage you to keep up with our schedule. I will provide practice quizzes to help you prepare.
Homeworks 20 To learn calculus, you must be an active participant, and this means doing problems on your own! The written homework problems are shown in the right hand column of the course schedule. When the schedule is updated, new problem sets will be added. All written problems are due at 16:20 on the Thursday, the week after they are assigned. In addition, there will be 8 Excel workshop assignments, which will be uploaded to moodle. Each assignment (written or Excel) is worth approximately 1% of the cour

教育目標

The course goals adhere to the “Rule of Four,” which states that calculus must be understood algebraically, graphically, numerically, and verbally. This will be the guiding principle in the lectures, weekly MS-Excel workshops, homework assignment, and group problem solving demonstrations.
