教育目標

Like Taiwan, France has a semi-presidential system and a polarized party structure. These are two main themes in this course. Under semi presidential system, the relations between executive and legislative branches are different from other nations of presidential or parliamentary systems. The function of judicial review is also exceptional. French party structure is profoundly transformed since 2017. Today, there are three major parties which acquire this status within less than five years. At the same time, traditional major parties, right and left, are struggling. This course would explore the development of French party politics. Firstly, the students could grasp the concept of ascending and descending party. Secondly, the coalition of the major and junior parties is decisive for electoral success. Thirdly, whenever the economy goes wrong, the importance of the radical parties will arise.
