Students will examine various cultural groups' perspectives, research findings, and case studies from diverse regions worldwide. The course may include activities such as cultural immersion experiences and opportunities for self-reflection on one's own cultural identity, biases and assumptions. The content provides a comprehensive understanding of the cultural basis of psychological processes while fostering cultural competence, international-mindedness, and an appreciation for diversity in various domains of life. I. Introduction to Cultural Psychology Defining culture and its role in shaping human behavior Overview of key theories and perspectives in cultural psychology Cultural Constructions of Self: Independent vs. Interdependent II. Cultural Variations: Cognition and Emotion Analytic vs. holistic cognitive styles across cultures Cultural display rules and emotional expression III. Culture and Motivation Intrinsic vs. extrinsic motivations in different cultures Cultural values and their impact on achievement motivation IV.
