教育目標

課程目標 (Course Objectives): Students will be exposed to a wide range of topics in the area of process synthesis spanning from hierarchical flowsheet synthesis methodology to energy saving strategy. Through the course, students are expected to be familiar with the terminology and various applications as related to process synthesis. 課程內涵(Course Contents): This course is an integral part of process system engineering and will be introduced in the context of seeking a globally optimum process structure in converting raw materials into desired products. Specifically, process synthesis and integration methodologies deal with the creation, development, and optimization of process flowsheet structures. These topics will be discussed and special emphasis will be placed on heat exchanger network analysis, separation system synthesis, reaction system synthesis, and overall process integration strategies. A review of the current literature will be conducted.

課程概述

The course is introduced in the context of creating a globally optimum process in converting raw materials to desired products. Topics include reaction path analysis, separation system synthesis, heat exchanger network synthesis, techniques of constructing process superstructures, reaction system synthesis, optimization approaches to process synthesis, and overall process integration strategies. A review of the current literature will be conducted. Students are expected to be familiar with the terminology and applications as related to the subject of process synthesis.
