1. Students will recognize the relative uniqueness of English and Mandarin Chinese in terms of grammatical structure, lexicology, and discourse. 2. Students will apply contrastive skills to translation. 3. Students will detect, explain, and rectify errors in translation.

1. Handouts and materials will be provided in the iLearn system. Print out handouts and bring the hardcopies to class.
2. Students are encouraged to bring an English-English dictionary for hand-on translation practices in class.
