瞭解癌症生物學的內涵、機制、及發展近況。

課程目標首先讓同學認識癌症本身在生物學上的本質, 並學習癌症的發生原因及機制, 包括基因本身的影響, 病毒的影響, 細胞蛋白質變異的影響. 並將探討分子層次的轉變如何改變細胞的表現行為進而導致癌症發生, 包括細胞週期(cell cycle), 細胞移行(cell motility)及轉移(metastasis). 本課程也將介紹臨床癌症病理學以及治療的處理方式.本課程涵蓋主題如下: 1.The nature of cancer 2.Tumor viruses 3.Cellular oncogene 4.Growth factors and their receptors 5.Cytoplasmic signaling circuitry programs many of the traits of cancer 6.Tumor supressor gene 7.pRb and control of cell cycle 8.p53 and apoptosis 9.Cell immortalization and tumorgenesis 10.Multistep tumorgenesis 11.Maintenance of genomic integrity and the development of cancer 12.Heterotypic interactions and the biology of angiogenesis 13.Moving out: invasion and metastasis 14.The rational treatment of cancer
