| Participation & Peer Critique | 20 | Active engagement in class workshops and critiques. Students are expected to share work-in-progress, give and receive feedback, and contribute ideas during discussions. Collaborative critique helps develop creative thinking and design communication skills. |
| In-Class Assignments | 30 | Weekly exercises using Recraft, Vizcom, Spline, and SelfCAD. These hands-on tasks (e.g. generating a logo with AI, modeling a given object in 3D) reinforce practical skills. |
| Midterm Exam | 20 | Midterm exam is to check students in using Recraft, Vizcom, Spline, and SelfCAD skills. |
| Final Portfolio Project | 30 | The main assessment is an individual creative project. Students create a cohesive set of deliverables (AI-generated visuals, 3D models, and written reflections) and compile them on a Wix portfolio site. |
By the end of the course, students will be able to: •Leverage AI for visual ideation: Use AI image-generation and sketch-rendering tools (e.g. Recraft’s text-to-image, Vizcom’s sketch-to-illustration) to create and iterate on concept designs. •Develop AI-driven creative briefs: Use ChatGPT or Notion AI for brainstorming and generating creative briefs, mood boards, and style guides for design projects. •Construct 3D models and prototypes: Build interactive 3D objects using friendly CAD tools (SelfCAD, Spline) to realize product or design concepts. Learn the foundations of 3D design through hands-on modeling (sketching, extruding, sculpting) and animation, reinforcing spatial reasoning. •Apply design thinking and iteration: Employ an iterative design process, refining ideas through rapid prototyping in both 2D and 3D. Students learn to “iterate, refine, and improve” models, fostering an innovative mindset. •Create a professional portfolio: Publish a digital portfolio website that showcases projects, using Wix’s drag-and-drop platform and AI-assisted templates. The portfolio will integrate students’ AI-generated visuals and 3D models. •Demonstrate digital creativity: Synthesize digital tools to solve design problems. The course emphasizes digital creativity skill. Students will combine tools to produce original work (e.g. logo, poster, or product mockup) that reflects creativity and technical skill.
