教育目標

This course examines fundamental questions about moral and political obligation in a globalized world: What do we owe to strangers beyond our borders? Can political borders be morally justified? The first half explores debates between cosmopolitanism and nationalism, asking whether our deepest moral allegiances should be to humanity or to particular communities. The second half applies these frameworks to immigration ethics, examining arguments for and against open borders. Through engagement with contemporary philosophers including Nussbaum, Appiah, Carens, Miller, and others, students will develop critical tools for evaluating competing claims about citizenship, belonging, and justice in an interconnected world.
