Introduction to aerosol science and technology. The course contents are introduction, properties of gases, uniform particle motion, particle size statistics, straight line acceleration and curvilinear particle motion, adhesion of particles, Brownian motion and diffusion, filtration, sampling and measurement of concentration, respiratory deposition, coagulation, condensation and evaporation, atmospheric aerosol, and electrical properties. This course will further guide students to conduct experiments on gas flow rate calibration, calibration methods for micro sensors, and the preparation, assembly, sampling, and subsequent data analysis of inertial impactors. This course aims to provide students with an in-depth understanding of the design and operational theory of various aerosol control sampling devices, and further, to provide hands-on experience with relevant equipment.
