History of states(國家學) explores the idea of the “State” and how state power has evolved in Eastern and Western traditions. As an interdisciplinary course, it introduces core concepts of political order, legitimacy, sovereignty, state formation, and institutional organization. Rather than treating the state as an abstract idea, the course examines how different states are imagined, created, justified and challenged. Through case studies such as the French Republic and United Nations, students connect theory with historical practice and critically assess competing forms of statehood and political authority.
