Environmental economics is a field of study that uses economic theories and methods to devise, compare, and evaluate solutions to environmental issues. Environmental problems arise as a result of economic activities such as production, consumption, and transportation. Additionally, the environment affects not just individual parties but society as a whole. Therefore, addressing environmental issues requires an understanding of the economic activities that cause them and identifying where the problems lie. Crafting policies that mobilize society as a whole is crucial for solving these problems. The goal of this course is to provide students with the foundational economic knowledge necessary to deepen their understanding of a 'sustainable society.

Principles of Economics, 9th or 10th edition by N. Gregory Mankiw, South-Western.
