教育目標

On completion of the course, students should be able to 1. improve their body awareness when talking in public; 2. control signs of nervousness in their behavior; 3. develop a better understanding of what is going on between a speaker and his/her audience 4. acquire basic skills to captivate an audience (maintain eye contact with the audience, match body language and speech contents, master the rhythm of the speech, occupy space available, interact with the audience…).

課程概述

This course will emphasize the importance of body language when speaking in public. It is designed to help students cope with the challenges of public speech, be it an oral report in class, a conference, reporting to colleagues, etc. It is a very practical course which should be considered as job oriented. Students will first learn to express emotions and feelings in public while maintaining their composure. This will be achieved through mime and clown techniques. Attention will be drawn to the various aspects of body language when one speaks in public (control of breathing, avoiding signs of nervousness, maintaining eye contact with the whole audience, be able to modulate voice depending on the contents of the speech, etc.). Most work will be done in class. Finally, the students will be required to perform speeches in public while sitting, standing behind a microphone and standing/moving on a stage.
