教育目標

This Course is designed for undergraduate students to the study of comparative politics, which is defined as the study of domestic politics anywhere in the world. Comparative politics is both subject and method. Subjectively, we study the structures, processes, and outcomes of domestic politics in countries concerned; and methodologically, we learn not simply by studying other countries, but rather by systematically comparing and constrasting their political processes and structures to derive more general knowledge. In against this backdrop, this course will be looking closely at the governments of so-called developed countries(ie.,Great Britian,France,US, Japan)and newly developing countries(ie.,China, Brazil.etc.),in the hope to understand why different countries have developed different kinds of governments and whether all of this makes any difference, and furthermore, to explain cross-national differences in political practices and outcomes through reference to different cultural values.
