This is a listening and speaking course for intermediate-level students who wish to improve their fluency in conversational situations and their abilities in academic listening. The instructor will employ a wide range of oral and aural activities to provide students intensive practice in listening to, and participating in, everyday conversations. In addition, the instructor will provide high-interest listening passages from the content areas with extensive listening skills practice to prepare students for the challenges of academic listening. Classes will meet twice a week, three hours in total.

On completion of the course, students should be able to 1. communicate more effectively in English; 2. elevate themselves from language learners to language users; 3. demonstrate their listening comprehension in both everyday conversations and academic passages; and 4. have a better understanding of the American culture.
