| Listening Log | 40 | The most important part of the course. Late work is not accepted. Graded on the amount and thoroughness of the assignment. |
By the end of the course, students are expected to show increased awareness of the differences between accurate and less than accurate pronunciations, in terms of word and sentence stress, intonation, consonants and vowels. They will be able to identify linking, blending, and phonetic changes and demonstrate improved listening comprehension to American English. They will also be able to pronounce consonants and vowels of English sounds which are particular troublesome for Chinese learners with increased accuracy.
