評分項目 配分比例 說明
Mid-term exam 20 From Lesson 1 to Lesson 5 or 6, depending on our progress. The format: Listening to identify sounds/sentences, answering questions on rules you have learned, pronounce the sentences provided,
Final exam 20 The final exam will cover what has been taught for the whole semester. Same format as the mid-term
Attendance and participation 20 Full attendance is expected. You need to give a legitimate reason for each absence. 10 points off for each unexcused absence. Participation in class and working with partners are required, too.
Listening Log 40 The most important part of the course. Late work is not accepted. Graded on the amount and thoroughness of the assignment.

教育目標

By the end of the course, students are expected to show increased awareness of the differences between accurate and less than accurate pronunciations, in terms of word and sentence stress, intonation, consonants and vowels. They will be able to identify linking, blending, and phonetic changes and demonstrate improved listening comprehension to American English. They will also be able to pronounce consonants and vowels of English sounds which are particular troublesome for Chinese learners with increased accuracy.
