教育目標

教育改革的字眼幾乎每天都出現在新聞媒體上，教育作為社會化下一代的主要工作，在台灣的政治、社會、文化層次上，都已經成為關鍵性的議題。本課程的主要目的是介紹與討論教育社會學，特別強調教育制度與的變革對於社會階層的影響。最近台灣的教育正進行一個幾乎是全面性的變革，從幼稚園教育到博士的訓練，這些變革對於未來台灣的階層化過程將有重大的影響。近年來，台灣的社會學家除了持續關懷教育的議題之外，近年來更規劃建立長期的教育資料庫，開始收集教育的相關資料。其中，以「台灣教育長期追蹤資料庫」(Taiwan Education Panel Survey, 簡稱TEPS, http://www.teps.sinica.edu.tw)的規模與目標最大。這些資料的應用對於教育社會學理論的驗證，將有很大的助益。 本課程的設計，主要分成兩部份，一部份是希望透過教育社會學的理論取向，以及社會學研究的閱讀與討論，提供一些有用的工具來釐清當前的教育議題。我們除了要討論學校內部的運作關係之外，也要探討學校體系與整個大社會之間的關係，從社會結構的取向來探討教育與社會結構、社會制度的關係。上課的方式以口頭報告與課堂討論為主。本課程的要求是，上課的參與討論(50%)，與一篇期末報告(50%)。關於期末報告，修課的研究生必須以議題導向，選擇一個題目，在學期中定期提出收集資料的結果。
