Animal associated human pathogen (foodborne pathogens); ii. Methods for foodborne pathogen detection; iii. Safety of rendered products; iv. Compost safety Laboratory Animals: i. Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC); ii. Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC); iii. Animals used for vaccine developments; iv. Animal used for product safety testing; v. Animal cell culture technologies Companion/Work Animals: Pets, farm animals, and service animals

Students will discuss animal food security, food safety, the use of laboratory animals for research and teaching, and the use of companion/work animals.
