This course aims to expose students of the College of Management to the design, planning, and control of operating systems for the provision of goods and services. Besides introduction of the nature and characteristics of operating systems in both manufacturing and service sectors, special focus is placed on application of the lean management and establishment of the SOP across common procedures in higher-education services. These issues help students to strengthen understanding of the role of operations management in diverse functional areas within an organization and general decision-making approaches.
There is no single textbook that fits this course. Supporting lecture notes and supplemental material for in-class discussions are to be distributed following the progress of the course.
