評分項目	配分比例	說明
Academic products test	15	This is a short-answer test that requires you to look at several academic products and extract citation information.
Midterm exam	20	This exam tests your ability to use the library catalog, other THU e-resources, and the Internet to find high-quality sources of information.
Final exam	30	This exam tests your ability to quote, paraphrase, and use MLA style correctly for in-text citation and the works cited list.
Final assignment	35	This is a 4-5 page paper that requires you to find sources about the concept of plagiarism and to argue for a plagiarism policy based on support from those sources.

教育目標

By the end of the fall semester, students should be able to: 1) have a basic understanding of the values and products of the academic world; 2) use university library resources to find sources for research; 3) evaluate the quality of those sources; 4) do quotation and paraphrasing of source material in a basic way; 5) follow MLA conventions for citing source material; 6) understand the concept of plagiarism and avoid it themselves.

課程概述

Research Methods is a second-year required course. By the end of this course, students should be able to 1）　conduct research independently on a topic, 2） write a research paper presenting their research and argument following current academic standards of presentation, and 3） properly cite their sources of information and avoid plagiarism. In the first semester, students learn the basic skills and principles that they will need to carry out research. In the second semester, students learn how to develop their own research topic and argument and how to use the skills and principles from the first semester to do their own research and write a research paper.
