教育目標

A nation’s literature is a window into its culture, and among the major literary genres, poetry is deemed as the most concentrated and condensed form of expression. It distills thoughts and emotions and presents them in a concise manner. Thus, the objective of this course is to help students appreciate the uniqueness of the contemporary American poetry and culture

課程概述

Selected Poetry is an elective for third- and fourth year students. This course builds on the knowledge of poetry that students obtained in Introduction to Literature 2. This course aims for an in-depth study of poetry and may focus either on the work of a particular poet who will be studied in depth or on a theme that will be worked out in studying various poems or on the relationship between poetry and other art forms.
