教育目標

Course Description: The course is designed to sharpen sociology students’ academic writing skills as well as their reading and speaking skills. The class involves extensive reading, writing practice of short essays, discussion, and oral presentation. With a focus on writing strategies, students are expected to develop skills in grammar, usage, mechanics, and sentence structure from sentences, paragraphs, to essays. Different writing genres (narration, description, classification, comparison and contrast, cause and effect, argumentation, etc.) will also be taught and read in class. Course Objectives: 1. To understand and use various strategies for reading. 2. To develop effective organization and idea development skills. 3. To improve sentence structure and clarity. 4. To compose essays through the writing process of planning, drafting, and revising. 5. To be able to express one’s ideas in good English 6. To promote individualized and cooperative learning.
