課程概述

本課程為共同選修課,不屬於通識課程。 Our focus will be on the experience that women have in relation to traditional religions and their own religious experiences. We shall study the accounts of Christian women in China, Buddhist women in Thailand, Jewish women in the United States, and women of the African Diaspora. In addition, we shall read and discuss essays by contemporary women who have expressed concerns about the following issues: •Who are our ancestors, the religious women who have been left out of the “history books”? •What are the ways women name and visualize the sacred? •How do women today serve as religious and spiritual leaders? The experience of women in the world’s religions is very often different from that of men. For this reason alone it is important to study women’s religious life. In addition, this course will introduce students to numerous religious traditions.
