教育目標

東海大學大一英文課程簡述與課程目標 壹、課程簡述 大一英文是東海大學大一學生之必修課程，本課程融合英語文聽、說、讀、寫等語言技能，著重英語文在一般情境、場合使用中所需之語言技能與流利度。因此，本課程設計主要在於幫助學生結合自己個人既有之一般性智能與英語文智能，藉由用英語文學習及溝通之方式，提升學生之英語文能力及充實學生之個人智能。具體而言，本課程提供多元化之學習情境與活動，讓學生在課堂、課外皆有充分使用英語文之機會，同時，亦提供一個和諧愉快、全英語文之課堂學習環境，藉以增加學生課堂活動之參與及學習英語文之信心，並有助於充實學生之英語文智能與個人智能。 貳、課程目標 (Course Objectives) 修畢大一英文後，學生應該能達成下列八項課程目標： On completion of the FENM course, students should be able to: 1. 能運用英語文於日常生活中﹔ use English in daily life; 2. 能運用英語文進行邏輯思考、分析判斷、整合創新﹔ think independently, logically, analytically, synthetically, and creatively in English; 3. 能了解及增進個人學習英語文興趣與動機﹔ understand and enhance one’s own interest and motivation in learning English; 4. 能運用英語文吸收及了解多元領域知識﹔ use English to acquire and understand knowledge of various disciplines; 5. 能運用各類英語文學習策略﹔ use various English language learning strategies; 6. 能運用各類資源學習英語文﹔ use various English language learning resources; 7. 能運用英語文探索及了解國際多元文化﹔ use English to explore and understand various cultures in the world; and 8. 能運用英語文探索及了解自我人生意義。 use English to explore and understand the meaning of one’s own life.

課程概述

Pre-Freshman English for Non-English Major, a 36-hour intensive elective course, is designed to enrich university freshmen’s communicative skills in English required for basic daily-life topics, activities, and situations. In this course students will develop and enhance their English skills in a learner-friendly and supportive learning environment through a variety of student-centered communicative activities such as listening with Q-&-A sessions, dialogues, group discussions, and role-plays. In addition, no traditional pencil-and-paper tests will be used to evaluate students’ listening and speaking skills. Instead, the student evaluation will be entirely task-based to maximize opportunities for students to demonstrate their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills through communication in English.
